IndyMac Bank CEO Presents $10,000 Check to San Marino Library
The bank previously contributed $100,000 to the capital campaign for the new facility

IndyMac Board Chairman and CEO Michael Perry presented the San Marino Public Library Foundation with a check for $10,000 early last Friday morning in a brief ceremony at the new library’s construction site. Earlier, IndyMac Bank contributed $100,000 to the capital campaign.

Standing before the yawning foundation dig Perry told the small group of civic leaders that IndyMac feels very fortunate “to help in a small way.”

“We started IndyMac with four employees,” said Perry, “and, today, we’re one of the 10 largest thrifts in the country, with almost $30 billion in assets. You don’t build a business without the support of your family…and my family thrives in this wonderful community.”

“Our kids spend a lot time at this library. To be able to help in a small way to see this library grow is just going to be incredible. I have no doubt some of our grandchildren will be using this library,” he said.

For its part, the Library Foundation’s President Bob Sievers was most appreciation of IndyMac Bank’s support. Sievers said, “I would just like to say that IndyMac Bank has really been a partner from the very beginning. Without IndyMac and others, we wouldn't be where we are today, standing here looking at this hole in the ground that we're going to fill up.”

San Marino Mayor Dr. Matthew Lin summed up: “I believe we are all members of one family. Thank you so much.”

The new San Marino Public Library is being built to replace a much smaller older building which was sadly lacking. It remains open even after demolition – operating in the San Marino Center right next to the new construction.

Established in 1915 as a branch of the Los Angeles County library system, the San Marino Public Library offers an array of programs ranging from Story Times for toddlers to computer literacy classes for seniors.
