“POP” in for Brunch
Pop Champagne and Dessert Bar is now open for Sunday brunch with tried and true favorites and a few surprises

White Peach Bellini and Mimosa
I love brunch it’s like high tea for the mid-afternoon. An indulgent repast for a lazy Sunday, baby shower, birthday or just because. POP Champagne and Dessert Bar is now serving brunch with omelets, quiche and other yummy brunch dishes.

My companion and I started with a mimosa and white peach bellini. The mimosa’s are made with fresh orange juice and the bellini’s have great peach taste with real peach nectar.

House-made Quiche of the Day
We started with the Quiche of the Day which was made with roasted garlic, sundried tomato, chicken, herbs and provolone cheese. Very creamy with an assertive taste of sweet roasted garlic, it was accompanied by POPtatoes which are chopped small with apples and herbs.

A delicious twist on the original Monte Cristo sandwich was served next. Two pieces of French toast were stuffed with a ham steak (I mean steak not wafer-thin slices) and provolone cheese. This is served with strawberry preserves, maple syrup and a dusting of powdered sugar. I really liked this sandwich, it was lighter than the traditional dip and fry Monte Cristo and the ham was delicious and tender.

Monte Cristo Sandwich
Lighter-than-air lemon soufflé pancakes, studded with poppy seeds and served with strawberries and whipped creams were a light and delicious dish. Added to this was a homemade lemon curd that was tart and sweet and made my saliva glands go off like a water cannon.

And the sweet berry crepes don’t get me started! Light crepes were topped with mixed berries and drizzled with a caramel sauce, brown sugar butter and whipped cream. I’m going back for more of these in fact I’m craving them as I write this.

Lemon Souffle Pancakes
Prices for brunch range from $6.00 for a Parisian-like breakfast of warm croissant with brie and strawberries to $13.00 for smoked salmon eggs Benedict with chive hollandaise sauce. Brunch is served on Sunday’s from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Pop Champagne and Dessert Bar is located at 33 East Union Street in Old Pasadena.
