Get Lucky! Adopt a Black Kitten!
From STAFF REPORTS
Wednesday, September 10

Every kitten deserves a home but did you know that black kittens have the lowest adoption rate and the highest euthanasia rate in shelters? Whether because of superstition or simply because they blend into the shadows in the back of the crate, the black kittens at Happy Strays Rescue are statistically less likely to be adopted than their siblings.

Some rescue groups ignore black kittens because they can be so difficult to place prior to adulthood, but this summer, Happy Strays Rescue is "specializing" in black kittens of all shapes and sizes.

Many adopters prefer the flashier tabbies and calicos, but kittens like Pepe, Dolphin, Kali, Panda, Aurora, and Mr. Big urge you to consider them instead! Once these kittens reach a year old, they are usually left waiting and waiting until someone special comes to take them home, and due to Halloween, precious time is wasted because they can't be shown for adoption prior to the holiday in October.

Please stop by Petco in La Canada (next to Trader Joe's) during the rescue's weekly adoptions from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays, especially during the month of September.

These regal-looking beauties have so much to offer, ask for so little in return, and they have loving personalities! Their individual stories can be read at www.happystrays.org.

In some countries such as Britain and Japan, black cats are considered good luck, but you can help us change the luck of our foster kittens this Saturday. It will be your lucky day too!
