State Sen. Jack Scott (D-Pasadena) has been named the next chancellor of California's community colleges, said a spokesperson in a news statement.
Scott, chairman of the Senate Education Committee, was voted in unanimously by the Board of Governors for the 109-campus system on Thursday.
The 74-year-old State Senator, who served as president of Pasadena City College for nearly a decade, will term out of office at the end of the year.
Scott will replace interim Chancellor Diane Woodruff.
