Take a STAYcation at the Langham Huntington Hotel

Jul 9, 2008 | 2:22 pm

With gas approaching $5 a gallon and the cost of airline tickets changing hourly, many of us are considering staying closer to home this summer. The new term du jour for this phenomenon is STAYcation.

In this and future articles, suggestions for interesting staycations, all within one tank of gas or less, will be explored. Our first choice is really close to home, The Langham Huntington Hotel and Spa.

Situated on a hill and surrounded by trees, you could almost forget you were in Pasadena. The beautiful grounds with Japanese Gardens and meandering streams beckon to you for a relaxing stroll, while the regal building and posh decor whisper luxury.

This summer, The Langham is offering special summer rates and packages to those of us wishing to indulge ourselves closer to home. One of their special offers does not require an overnight stay. On Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from now until August 27 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., they are offering manicures and martinis by the pool. Imagine having your digits lovingly tended to while sipping an ice cold martini (shaken not stirred). The price for this indulgence is $50.00 which includes the manicure and your first martini.

For those of us wishing a night or two away from home, summer rates at the hotel begin at $199 a night. This rate is not just for weekday nights but applies to weekend as well. If you choose to stay two consecutive nights, your third night is free. The Happily Ever After package includes a one night deluxe accommodation, one in-room movie, full American breakfast for two and complementary valet parking. They are also offering late check-out (until 5) on Sundays for an additional $100. These special rates are available until September 1.

The Langham Huntington Hotel and Spa is located at 1401 South Oak Knoll Avenue, Pasadena. For more information and reservations call (626) 568-3900.
