As if manicures and martinis by the pool wasn’t enough, the Langham Hotel is now offering a custom perfume blending service that will truly stimulate your senses.  Ajne, created and owned by Jane Hendler, is a Carmel based company that emphasizes the use of organic, chemical-free products and creates perfumes with ingredients that are so rare, they can cost up to $80,000 a kilo.  These perfumes can be blended to create new scents that can provide different benefits based on your personal needs.

So how does one customize a perfume?  Ajne has created a system, based on the principles of Chakra, to help truly personalize your fragrance.  First, you have to answer a questionnaire about yourself that might seem a little off-the-topic for perfume (for example, what colors do you like or what your favorite season is).  Then a mélanger trained by Ajne will interpret your answers and decide which areas of your body’s chakra need improving.  Since these areas relate to scents, it is then easy to find which oils and perfumes you will like and benefit from the most.

The process may be a little confusing for those who don’t understand Chakra, but the result is always delicious.  The experience lasts about an hour.  The Langham also has Ajne’s premixed scents available if you don’t feel like spending an hour on your perfume (although, they are already perfect on their own!).  These scents are available for purchase and are also used in spa treatments at the hotel’s Huntington Spa to add an extra touch of luxury.  It seems the Langham has done it again!

The Langham Huntington Hotel and Spa is located at 1401 South Oak Knoll, Pasadena. For reservations and more information call (626) 568-3900 or log onto http://pasadena.langhamhotels.com/.
