Dianne Segura has been named the new Executive Director of the YWCA Pasadena-Foothill Valley, the first Latina to head the organization its 100-year history. She brings more than 15-years of corporate and entrepreneurial experience to a dynamic organization based in Pasadena with a budget close to $1 million and growing.

Michaela Pereira, co-anchor of the popular "KTLA Morning News," was mistress of ceremonies at the AIDS Service Center's Posada candlelight vigil on December 2. The annual fundraising event, hosted this year by Paseo Colorado, drew over 1,500.




Surf's Up for Caltech President Jean-Lou Chameau

Caltech President Jean-Lou Chameau received an unusual gift from a longtime friend at Georgia Tech this week: a surfboard. "He's a guy who likes exciting stuff. He has actually skied off the Alps and parasailed to the bottom ... I figured that if he had a quiet day ... he could look at that surfboard and decide to head out to the coast and go for a surfing lesson," says Patty Bartlett.

Caltech Alumnus Ray Feeney Receives Oscar

Ray Feeney will receive the Gordon E. Sawyer Award from the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. A 1975 Caltech alumnus with a bachelor's degree in engineering, Feeney is a pioneer of software solutions for visual effects in motion pictures.

The award, an Oscar statuette, will be presented at the Scientific and Technical Awards Dinner on February 10, 2007, at the Regent Beverly Wilshire. Segments of the Scientific and Technical Awards presentation will be broadcast by the ABC Television Network during the 79th Academy Awards on February 25.
