CONCACAF Soccer Semi-Finals to be Held in Rose Bowl

The Rose Bowl will be hosting one of the semifinal matches for the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Sunday, July 23. The 12-team Gold Cup is now on its quarterfinal stage, with double headers at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Thursday – Costa Rica vs. Panama, followed by Team America vs. El Salvador. On Friday, Jamaica plays Canada, followed by Mexico vs. Honduras at the University of Phoenix stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The winners in the Phoenix matches will play their semifinal at the Rose Bowl on Sunday. Mexico has been going into the semis for the last five tournaments, and chances are they’ll be at the Rose Bowl match again, but that will be known only on Friday morning. read

The Marvelous Wonderettes
At the 1958 Springfield High School prom, we meet Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy and Suzy- the Marvelous Wonderettes, four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts. As audiences learn about their lives and loves, the girls serenade them with classic 50s hits  In act two, the Wonderettes reunite and take the stage and perform at their ten-year class reunion.

Classic Mystery Literature Reimagined

Unbound Productions, the Pasadena-based non-profit theatre company whose mission is to reimagine timeless stories by creating immersive, theatrical adaptations of literature, is presenting its First Stab Festival 2017: Mystery Lit on Saturday and Sunday, July 22 and 23, at the Donald R. Wright Auditorium of the Pasadena Central Library. The free show will feature script-in-hand staged readings of new plays adapted from classic mystery literature. Saturday’s program includes The Bell, adapted from A Thumbprint and What Became of It by Mark Twain; Ambrose Bierce’s My Favorite Murder; and Louisa May Alcott’s A Double Tragedy: An Actor’s Story. Sunday will feature Thomas Baily Aldrich’s The Danseuse; William Leggett’s The Rifle; and Anna Katherine Green’s The Doctor, His Wife and the Clock.
