Eulalia Pérez was born in Baja California, traveled to Alta California as a soldier's wife, and then as a widow served as the Llavera (keeper of keys) for Misión San Gabriel. When mission lands were secularized, Rancho San Pascual – which became Pasadena, San Marino, parts of La Cañada, Sierra Madre and South Pasadena – was reserved for her. |
