Exercise is a great way to lose weight.  You not only get the benefits of the calories you burn while you exercise but you also raise your metabolic rate for the rest of the day.  So you burn more calories doing everything you do from sitting watching TV to walking to your car.  Exercise has other benefits as well.

•    Exercise keeps you young!  Exercise or regular activity helps prevent muscle and bone loss.  It keeps your circulatory system working well.  When we are able to maintain muscle and bone as well as improve our circulation we age more slowly.
•    Exercise helps prevent Osteoporosis!  Osteoporosis is a weakening of the bones.  Women are especially prone to this condition as they age.  Weight bearing exercises such as jump rope, running and even brisk walking can help keep all of our bones (men and women) strong.
•    Exercise helps you to feel good!  When we exercise the body produces endorphins.  Endorphins are chemical that cause a person to feel at peace and happy.
•    Exercise helps you sleep better!  Sleep is a time for the body to go through self-repair.  An uninterrupted night sleep improves cell repair and brain efficiency.  Many people put off exercising because they are too tired but exercise actually promotes a sound, longer sleep which leaves you feeling more awake the next day.
•    Exercise boosts your immune system!  It is well known that moderate exercise lowers stress.  Lower stress increases your body’s ability to fend off viruses, diseases and infections.  It improves blood flow in the cardiovascular system thus ridding toxins from your organs and muscles.

Exercise also helps keep the kidneys working well which allows them to excrete the toxins and germs.

In addition to losing weight exercise helps to prevent osteoporosis, induces better sleep, boost your immune system, allows you to age more slowing and you feel better when you do it.
