When a loved one has served in the United States Armed Forces you may find comfort in the fact that they will be laid to rest with full military honors. A military service is a beautiful and touching event that takes the time to acknowledge the sacrifice these individuals make for our country.

According to Military.com, “The rendering of Military Funeral Honors for an eligible veteran, free of charge, is mandated by law. An honor guard detail for the burial of an eligible veteran shall consist of not less than two members of the Armed Forces. The honor detail will, at a minimum, perform a ceremony that includes the folding and presenting of the American flag to the next of kin and the playing of Taps. The veteran’s parent Service representative will present the flag.”

Any former or current member of the Unites States Armed Forces, not dishonorably discharged, is eligible to receive military honors at burial. The funeral director of the chosen mortuary for the deceased can make the appropriate arrangements.
