City Café: Big City Café in a Small Town

City Café just opened, and so far it’s been delighting Azusa residents with its big-city café appeal. “We opened on Friday [May 4th]. It’s basically been a word of mouth thing and we had a great response from our guests,” says City Café’s Phil Diegelman.

city 3City Café is a classic “small café-meets-small restaurant” that exudes a big-city vibe that largely appeals to the residents. “This is the restaurant that I always wanted to go to when I lived here. I guess that’s the way to describe it,” says Phil.

The restaurant serves classic American comfort foods, like macaroni and cheese, chicken pot pie, steaks, pasta, and pizza. “We have stuffed baked potatoes and also your classic salads, cobb salad, mixed greens, iceberg wedge.”

Included on the menu are soup, appetizers, salads, 1/2 lb. burgers and sandwich combos, stuffed baked potatoes, pastas, pizzas, and entrees like seafood and steaks.

A point of pride at their restaurant is their large vegan menu, featuring a variety of delicious choices. “We created vegan style [sandwiches] like the Portobello Mushroom sandwich…the vegan style would be protein wrapped in iceberg lettuce,” says Phil.

One of their favorite vegan dishes that even meat eaters can enjoy is their black bean burger—“it’s vegan with a protein wrap as well. Both of them don’t have bread or any dairy or animal products.”

Other items from the vegan menu are Sauteed Seasonal Vegetables, Baked Potato, Vegetarian Pizza, and Bow-Tie Primavera, which is sautéed button mushrooms, broccoli, cauliflower, and bell peppers.

Here in City Café, there is a smorgasbord of dishes for meat-lovers, vegetarians, and vegans. Yes—it’s got everyone covered.

Happy eating!
