DIY: Put Those Lights Up the Right Way

There are some people who love to put up those Christmas lights, and some that don’t, but everyone loves their house to look its best during the holiday season. Whether you want to go all out, or keep it simple, there is a right way and a wrong way to put up those lights. If you don’t want to end up like Clark W. Griswold did in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, then put those lights up the right way to avoid frustration and possible injury.

Altadena Hardware wants you to have everything you need to decorate your house properly this year. They can sell you all the tools, all the lights, and all the accompanying hardware you will need to put those lights up the right way. Here is a list of things you will need:

● Good Tape Measure
● Good Study Ladder
● Saw or PVC pipe cutter
● Drill
● ¾ inch PVC pipe (for making clips)
● ½ inch PVC piping (as needed to match each section)
● ½ inch couplings (as needed when sections are longer than 10’)
● Permanent black marker (for marking pipe sections)
● Separate lines and bulbs
● C 9 bulbs
● 6 inch zip ties
● Zip tie gun
● Waterproof wire nuts
● 4” screw in metal hooks
● Angle brackets
● 10’ metal conduit piping (1 to 2 pieces) & coupling (if needed)
● Timers
● Extension cords
● Splitters

This method will take you a little time to put together initially, but once you get this made it can be easily stored and put up very quickly every years after. It can also easily be modified. Make sure that you spread the power sources around so that you don’t overload the circuit and blow the breaker. Let’s find out how to do this:
