End of Life Options

Many people do not consider end of life expenses until they are faced with these decisions but it is a good idea to have an idea of what options are available. Burial expenses can be so high that not everyone can afford a traditional burial. Cremation is a viable alternative that is much less expensive.

According to PR Newswire, cremation rates have nearly doubled over the past 15 years. More people are choosing this option for their loved ones. According to Board President of CANA (Cremation Association of North America) Sheri Stahl, “Cremation is becoming the new normal, primarily because people can personalize the way they want to memorialize friends and family, and because it is perceived as a more affordable, better value for memorialization.”

PR Newswire tells us “Cremation also allows greater flexibility when planning memorialization. People can easily transport their loved one’s remains to make timing more convenient for families, place the remains in a single location, scatter them at a favorite site (with appropriate permission from property owners) or divide and incorporate them into keepsake urns, jewelry and other items.”

Cedar Hill Mortuary and Accommodations in Los Angeles is a local business that offers cremation services to their clients. Prices for standard cremation are $300.00 less than standard burial before the other services and items that need purchased. According to Cedar Hill’s website, “Unlike the burial, cremation does not involve the price of a casket, a burial chamber, burial ground plot, grave indicator, and burial service.”

It is important to take the time now to discuss this matters with your spouse, parents, siblings, children and other loved ones. It may seem premature but it is a good idea to have the talk now while everyone is calm.
