StarMakers Costumes & Parties 10-8-2015If you thought costumes were just for kids, think again. This Halloween, goblins and ghouls of all ages are going all out with their costumes.

Q Styles, the owner of StarMakers Costumes and Parties, gave Pasadena Now the inside scoop on what’s trendy this Halloween. “Definitely a lot of superheroes and it’s converting the superheroes into like a villain. Like Harlequin they made it more of a villain look, a little bit more dark but still sexy,” said Q. She adds that Star Wars characters are gaining popularity with children as well as adults and, as usual, princesses are a winner with little girls.

But some trends surprised her, “we’re almost sold out of is for the tween girls is Descendants Mal and Evie. We’re pretty much sold out..that one I didn’t see coming. That was a sleeper and you can’t get anymore of the Descendants costumes. It’s sold out from the distributor,” said Q.

In addition to a booming costume business, StarMakers is known for their custom costumes. Unfortunately, these creations take some planning. Each costume takes about three weeks from start to finish. Q encourages people to start planning early and order Halloween costumes no later than the end of August.

Although Halloween is their busy season, StarMakers keeps busy all year round. When they’re not designing dream Halloween costumes, they’re working on costumes for local theatres, outfits for the Renaissance Fairs or theme weddings. “New Year’s is big for costumes. People do 1920s all the time for New Year,” added Q. She also does theme birthday parties and events.

While seasonal trends come and go, Q has noticed one big theme in costumes. “People are just more intense…I mean people are just really more costume intent right now. It’s truly amazing,” said Q.

This Sunday, StarMakers Costumes and Parties will host their annual client appreciation party to celebrate Q Styles’ 7th year as owner of the store. “It’s a Halloween preview with hot new costume was out and stuff and then they get a discount on the costumes. We also have a photo booth and we do like prizes and do a raffle,” explained Q. RSVP to the Customer Appreciation Party on Sunday October 11, here http://www.starmakerscostumes.com/halloween.html.
