When the sun is blazing and there is a cool breeze in the air not much sounds better than an ice-cold beer and some delicious Mexican food. El Patron is showcasing some new beers this summer and would like you to come on in and let them know what you think.

The beers at El Patron come from local Altadena business Dr. Jekyll Brewery. Dr. Jekyll Brewery worked hand in hand with a bio-tech life science company named Virun and together came up with these healthy beers right in your own backyard.

One of the new beers is named Beer Belly and Alex Cortes, owner of El Patron says, “I’m selling it because it’s organic and that one is heart healthy.” Beer Belly has very minimal calories and is flavored with citrus. And yes, it does have superfoods in it. How awesome is that?

One of the superfoods in the Beer Belly beer is the acai berry. Diet solutions advertise the acai berry across the country but when you visit El Patron you get your serving in smooth beer. Now that is a diet plan you can stick to!

There is also Beer Attack, an Irish style Red Ale. It contains cinnamon oil and flaxseed oil among other healthy ingredients. Bio Beer is an Indian Pale Ale; this delicious drink is balanced with hints of ginger, berry notes and that super food, the acai berry.

Alex from El Patron wants his customers to come in and try out these new healthy beers. “What I’m doing now is coming up to customers who want to try it out and getting their feedback. So far customers like it! It’s different, it’s tasty, (and) it’s fresh.”

Tasty. Different. Fresh. That sounds like the perfect combination for any health conscious individual who loves to go out for a good meal, a good time, and a great beer. So walk over, bike over, or drive over. Just get on over to El Patron this weekend and get in on what is surely to become a local craze.

El Patron is located at 2555 N. Lake Avenue Altadena. For more information, call (626) 296¬2818 or visit
