Pasadena Attorney anticipates the unanticipated

Life, it has been said, is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.

And plans are what Pasadena Attorney Albert Mead is all about. He understands planning for the things we can anticipate, and the things that we can’t.

The Southern California native attended nearby San Marino schools, and then Amherst College in Massachusetts, along with spending a semester at the University of Warwick in Coventry, England, finally graduating from USC Law School.

Mead began practicing law in a small Santa Barbara real estate law firm right after graduation from law school.  He worked there for about four years before moving to Los Angeles, where he was an associate in a small probate firm and then the Assistant to the President for a corporation based in Pasadena.  He has been working out of his office in Pasadena since 1988.

He specializes in estate planning, which includes wills and trusts, as well as durable powers of attorney and related documents.

He also handles “special needs trusts,” which he explains, are, “trusts that are set up for individuals who have some kind of special needs or are incapacitated in some way. The trusts are set up to handle the trusts’ assets very carefully so that those people will continue to be eligible for Federal and state public benefits.”

In many cases Mead acts as attorney for the estates and trusts of those who have died, and whose financial and property planning were his original responsibility

“I also do real estate transactions, which includes sales, research and title issues,” Mead added.

Certainly the job of probates and trust administration is a far-reaching one.
“Clients or their families will ask you to do a lot of things which seem at first to be unusual,” he said.

It’s that wide range of tasks and responsibilities, many of which are unforeseen, that keeps the job constantly challenging, even for someone who makes plans for a living.

The law offices of Albert E. Mead Jr, are at 192 Ramona Place, Pasadena  (626) 584-5885. www.mead-law.com
