Meredith M is Worth the Trip Up

Meredith M opened this week up the incline on North Lake Avenue, and let me say right off the store is worth the trip.

The shop presents upscale, contemporary fashion for women, and accessories, and a tightly-curated section for children and babies.

It’s fun to see a cleverly assembled boutique built with a specific customer in mind.

Owner/buyer Meredith Miller says the styles she buys should resonate with “a cross section of the community.” Her forté will be with women who appreciate trends but don’t want to overspend.

“I pay attention to what women are wearing on the street,” Miller says. “There’s a big disconnect between the runway and what people are really wearing and what real women look like. I look for things that are going to make women look attractive but are also going to be comfortable, easy to wear, easy to mix and match.”

Don’t miss bellying up to the Denim Bar, a special spot in the shop with “cool jeans” and great leggings that don’t cost Beverly Hills prices.

Meredith and her husband Michael are familiar faces in the San Gabriel Valley. The pair owned the Fair Oaks Pharmacy in South Pasadena back in the 1990’s before selling in 2005.

“We really turned that community around with the commitment we made to that area. I see Altadena a lot in the same way,” Miller said. “Altadena has a wonderful base of people here. We’ve got a real diversity and we’re much more similar than we are different up here.”

Now is the perfect time to be opening shop, too, she says.

“We’re heading into holiday season as we open. In a week or so you’ll see more of holiday dresses in here,” she promises.

Meredith M. is at 2450 N. Lake Avenue (at Marcheta) in Altadena. For more information call (626) 204-2677 or visit  www.meredith-m.com/
