Is Old Pasadena one of your favorite late-night hangouts? If so, you’ve probably noticed the lack of spots to grub after visiting your watering-hole of choice.

Halfies Bistro is about to fix all that. A new bistro located on Fair Oaks Avenue is getting ready to open their doors and plan to stay open 24 hours a day.

Halfies gave themselves the name because after they have paid their costs and employee wages, Halfies aims to give half their profit to charity.

It is a bold move for a new business, but one they feel is close to their hearts. “One of my ideas is to choose one charity a month,” says John Diaz Media Consultant and part owner of Halfies.

“We want to focus on local charities and maybe once we get a little closer to be a second restaurant, we might focus on nationwide charities. I know the owners are partial to like ASPCA, he volunteers there.”

Of course, their first job is to feed their soon to be loyal customers.

Halfies wants to provide a menu that has a bit of everything. “We’ve got a lot in here,” says John. “We’ve got entrees, we’ve got salads, we’ve got pastries, we’ve got French Madeleines that we are making in-house.” They also offer Intelligentsia coffee.

The team plans to open their Bistro twenty-four hours a day, with WiFi and plug-ins for those who just need somewhere to work while having a good meal.

“We want people to hit us up and try something new.”

Halfies are also proud of their freshly baked loaves that will be used for their sandwiches. Fresh food is something they find important and all their food is prepared daily so it is fresh and ready for whenever your cravings strike.

Price is important to them, too. They want visitors to their Bistro to enjoy their fresh menu at a price they can afford “The salad as well as sides are three dollars for the first scoop and two dollars for every additional scoop. So technically you can try different salads for as little as seven dollars!” brags John.

Halfsies Bistro based in Pasadena will not only sell salads and fresh baked goodies, they have a list of entrees, mains and deserts they feel will keep their customer happy. This includes an assortment of entrees like fish tacos and pork adobo, soups and assorted buns, as well as coffee cake, and almond biscotti amongst many more.

They also serve a breakfast menu for those looking for something before work, or an early morning pick-me-up whilst working on that presentation.

John’s favorite item on the menu? The herb roasted chicken; “it’s a dry rub and its good with the bean and corn salad. My wife likes the Thai curry chicken because she likes spicy.”

Their official opening date is Saturday, August 1st, so mark your calendars!
