The Pasadena Hiking Pacers has organized a hike to Echo Mountain on Sunday, October 6 at 7:00 a.m.

Echo Mountain is home to the historic “White City,” a resort built built along Mt. Lowe Railway. The Pacers described the hike as a 5.4-mile round trip “with 1,500′ elevation gain/loss (long option: Inspiration Point, 10.4 mile rt with 2,740′ elevation gain/loss).”

The meeting place is Cobb Estate, Lake Ave & E. Loma Alta Drive, Altadena.

To arrive at the meeting place, the Pacers said “from the 210, take the Lake Avenue exit, go North from Pasadena into Altadena. Continue on the road as it climbs a hill and park near the sharp left hand turn outside the Cobb Estate. Meet in front of the large iron gate.”

The hike has a Level 2 hiking difficulty, meaning it has a distance of 7 to 10 miles with an elevation gain that will generally not exceed 350 feet per mile, with a total elevation gain of no more than 1000 ft.

The Pacers issued the following reminders to the hikers: “Leash your dogs, beware of snakes, poison oak, ticks, sunburns, and stay with the group at all times. Responsible and well prepared hikers always bring at least 3 liters of water, food, first-aid kit, and wear appropriate hiking/trail shoes. If you are not sure which way to go on the trail, wait and ask one of the leaders.

“Each hiker is fully responsible for his/herself while hiking in the great outdoors, including the responsibility for paying any bills related to rescue efforts or medical care. This is a free club operated by volunteers, no one is liable for any other person,” the Pacers added.

The Pacers are a free hiking organization with no fees, no forms to fill out, and no formalities. Members of the Pacers meet every Sunday, rain or shine, and hike the surrounding areas of Los Angeles County. The hikes vary in length and, although the majority of the Pacers are from their 20s to their 40s, hikers age 7 to 70 are welcome.

The Club’s President is Matt Plewinski, the Vice President is Tony P. Delgado, the Marketing Director is Julia Vo and the Secretary/Event planner is Brian Barnes.
