September is the Start of the New Year

If you have kids then you know that September feels like the beginning of a new year. Kids are making resolutions to do well in school and sports. You may be resolving to not let them miss the bus or leave their lunch on the counter.

In the spirit of September, now is a great time to resolve to build some new healthy habits.

A great way to do this is through classes at Whole Foods Market Arroyo. They have a whole list of classes lined up for the month of September and each one sounds even better than the next.

Thursday September 3rd at 6 p.m. brings you Back to School Bites with Chef Charles Chen. This class is $5.00. Learn how Chef Chen lost over 100 pounds while refusing to sacrifice the taste of his meals.

Saturday September 5th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., come on out for Healthy Grains Cooking Class. Chef Laura Gonzalez will teach you about quinoa and how to cook it. You will be able to sample some of her quinoa dishes and get a recipe to take home. This class is $5.00.

Thursday September 10th at 6 p.m. you can learn how to make yogurt during the Homemade Yogurt Class. This class is $10.00. Class is hosted by Monica Ford, founder and head chef of realfooddevotee.com. Come out and learn all about the benefits of yogurt and how it is made.

Saturday September 12th at 11 a.m. is the family friendly Veggie Hummus Pizza Kids Class. This class is $5.00. Bring the kids and learn how to make pizzas that your kids will love—and keep them full and healthy.

Thursday September 17th at 6 p.m. visit Whole Foods for the Fermented Hot Sauce Class. This class is $25.00. Chef Ernie Miller, a master preserver and founder of RLM Provisions will head this lesson. All students will get an RLM Provisions air lock fermentation kit containing their first batch of homemade hot sauce.
