Six Things that Really Stain Your Teeth

What are the six worst culprits for causing stains on your teeth? Let’s take a look and find out what’s the best way to get rid of them if you have succumbed to the fate of staining.

It’s all well and good getting your teeth whitened. But there’s not much point in shelling out for the cosmetic process if you’re just going to wind up with stains a few months down the road.

The first thing you need to be aware of, says Carte Blanche Teeth Whitening’s Lana Manibog, is what you’re drinking. There are chemicals in tea and coffee, known as tannins, which work to make your teeth more yellow over time.

This one is a little surprising. Having fluoridated water as a child can stain the teeth, especially when combined with a fluoride toothpaste. This condition is known as fluorosis. As the permanent teeth are formed they can sometimes develop whitish or brownish stains that will show once they come to the surface. This staining can easily be eliminated with a good teeth whitening, and once the permanent teeth are exposed they aren’t endangered anymore by fluorine.

The next one is no surprise, says Lana. If you’re a smoker, you will no doubt have already experienced the staining that comes with cigarettes. However, you may not realize that another of your favorite vices, wine, can also leave your teeth less than white. If you can’t stay away from the bottle, try drinking more whites than reds.

The same goes for sodas. The darker the color, the more likely your teeth are to stain. Another helpful tactic, according to Lana, is to drink any liquid through a straw, preventing it from touching your teeth.

Last but not least, try your best to steer clear of processed foods to keep your teeth the color they should be. These contain a bunch of chemicals to encourage you to eat them but are not good for your teeth. Things like bacon, ketchup, microwave popcorn, granola bars, dried fruits, fruit snacks, ramen noodles, and flavored nuts are amongst those that can cause stains on your teeth. Since these are some favorites amongst us Americans, it’s likely that you eat one or two of these everyday.

If you have some staining that you’d like to get rid of, Carte Blanche Teeth Whitening offers a mobile teeth whitening service. Saving you a trip to the dentist’s, Lana or another member of the team can come to your home or workplace, leaving you with gleaming white teeth that, with the help of the above information, will last for a long long time.

Carte Blanche is located at 510 South Lincoln Ave. #C, in Monterey Park. For more information visit http://carteblancheteethwhiteningca.com.
