Tequila Won’t Fix Your Problems, But It Will Make for a Better Tuesday

What’s so great about Tuesdays? Tequila Tuesdays at Alma de la Rosa in Old Pasadena, that’s what.

Each month, the restaurant features a different tequila from a different tequila distillery with a focus on sustainable and organic practices.

There are drink specials offered for flights and cocktails that feature that month’s tequila selection.

Alma Mixologist Sarah Palcher says the reaction to Tequila Tuesdays has been tremendous.

“The response to Tequila Tuesday has been overwhelmingly positive. People have been excited to taste tequilas they are unfamiliar with, and since we usually do a tasting panel of a blanco, a reposado and an anejo tequila, guests get to experience how a tequila changes with age,” she said.

Palcher continued to say that guest throughout the restaurant and bar can enjoy Tequila Tuesday.

“We offer our Tequila Tuesday selections throughout the entire restaurant. You may get a little more face time with the bartender or the tequila reps if you sit at the bar. But both the bartender and the reps try to make sure to stop by any tables that are interested in the Tequilas.”

Palcher explains what tequilas are poured on Tuesday nights.

“We focus on sustainable and organic tequilas. We generally feature different tequilas each month, and we do a tasting panel of their blanco, repo and anejo tequilas as well as a featured cocktail.”

“ We have poured Alma and Dolce Vida, as well as Don Abraham, and Siete Leguas. However this month we are tasting two blanco’s Chamucos a highland tequila and Abreojos a lowland as well as a repo from Abreojos. The featured cocktail this month is a honey lavender margarita made with Alma blanco.”

Palcher’s own creations feature a hibiscus margarita made with a house-made hibiscus simple syrup brewed with ginger and citrus. She also has a blackberry and sage smash. For those who prefer mescal to tequila, Palcher mixes up a spicy cocktail called a Oaxacan burner. Sounds Yummy!

If you want a little snack with your drinks, the happy hour menu which features duck, lamb and pork tacos, papas fritas which are house cut fries smothered in chocolate mole and queso fresco, are served at a discount between 4:30-6:30 p.m.
