Chef/ owner Adrienne Borlongan, is a food scientist who formerly designed mixology programs for restaurant/ nightlife group SBE. The shop specializes in small batch artisanal ice cream, making flavors inspired by international destinations. Cult favorite flavors include a Thai-inspired “Sticky Rice and Mango” (which is unintentionally vegan), a “Japanese Neapolitan” that combines matcha, hojicha, & black sesame, as well as their “Ube Malted Crunch” – a playful take on the ubiquitous Filipino purple yam flavor. Most recently, Wanderlust went internationally viral with their White Rabbit flavor starting a global trend. The menu is ever-rotating, with seasonal options such as “Sakura” (cherry blossom), “Breakfast at Café du Monde” (chicory coffee with beignets), & “Orange Flower Baklava”. Wanderlust Creamery also features fresh housemade waffle cones; their emblem is a purple cone made from purple yam.

“I wanted to take all these amazing travel experiences- whether past, or on my bucket list for the future- and turn them into ice cream flavors. While the flavors may be unheard of to some, many are actually quite ‘classic’, depending on where in the world you are. Our mission is to open people’s minds through broadening their palates.” – Adrienne Borlongan

Wanderlust Creamery opened its first location in Tarzana in 2015 and quickly saw a large homegrown following, expanding with an outpost at foodie mecca Smorgasburg LA in 2016, and a location on Glendale Blvd in Atwater Village by early 2017 and Venice in 2018. While LA has seen a great “artisanal ice cream” boom in recent years with the influx of brands from out-of-state, Wanderlust Creamery aims to stand out as LA’s homegrown brand.
