Leadership Pasadena Celebrates Pasadena and the Holidays With Festive Gathering

Leadership Pasadena (LP) members, alumni and supporters gathered together last Saturday, December 5, to celebrate the group’s Annual Holiday Party at a private local residence.

LP was founded 15 years ago in answer to the question “How can we, the people of Pasadena, help the city and community become better at improving itself?” It is a community-based leadership training organization that is dedicated to building community one leader at a time. It provides both accomplished and emerging leaders with the leadership tools, inspiration, understanding and relationships to enhance their engagement in the greater Pasadena community.

Leadership Pasadena offers an eight-month professionally facilitated leadership training program that includes professionally facilitated leadership, team building and project management skills. It offers an opportunity for deeper understanding of the history, issues, assets and challenges facing Pasadena through candid, in-depth, an on-site encounters with leaders in education, government, science, the arts, and business and economics, and a laboratory experience in collaborating with community organizations and class members to execute a project that addresses a community issue or need. The results are presented to the community in a public graduation ceremony.

Nearly 300 people have graduated from the LP program, and over a dozen organizations, such as Caltech, the City of Pasadena, Parsons, and the Tournament of Roses, have taken advantage of their customized one-day sessions.
LP graduates have used their experience to further their careers as well as improve their organizations.

LP’s impact can be seen in the legacy of projects that have been created through its programs, among which are providing solar energy at the Harambee Center, creating an ongoing series of youth employment workshops, and launching the ArtWorks! program at LearningWorks Charter School.
