A 14-year-old Pasadena girl was robbed and injured in a street attack by ski-masked bandits Tuesday afternoon.
Pasadena Police Lt. John Luna said the girl was walking home from school along Allen Avenue just north of Orange Grove Boulevard about 4:35 p.m. when the trio ganged up on her.
The incident began when one approximately 17-year-old suspect wearing a black ski mask tried to grab a necklace the girl was wearing, Luna said.
Suddenly another 17- to 18-year-old suspect also wearing a black ski mask came up from behind the girl and pulled off her Jansport brand black backpack and a 19- to 20-year-old suspect wearing a nylon stocking over his head stepped in front of the victim and removed her glasses, Luna said.
He reported that the backpack held cash, an Apple iPhone 5 and some books.
The three suspects, described as Hispanic teenagers, then ran to a four-door blue or black compact vehicle and drove eastbound through Dunham Alley, Luna said.
The victim suffered minor abrasions to her upper chest and left cheek, but refused treatment by Pasadena Fire Department paramedics.
The suspects remain outstanding, Luna said.
