2014 Halloween Happenings A Great Success

On Friday, October 31st the streets of Downtown Sierra Madre were filled with fabulously costumed creatures for the City of Sierra Madre’s Annual Halloween Happenings.

The cool air set the stage for an array of festivities that began with trick-or-treating at the Downtown businesses, sponsored by the Sierra Madre Chamber of Commerce. Following the trick-or-treating over 200 costumed participants marched behind the Sierra Madre fire truck in a parade down Sierra Madre Boulevard to Memorial Park where 113 contestants competed in the costume contest.

The costume contest was sponsored by the Sierra Madre Kiwanis Club who provided prizes for the winners. The scariest costume category was sponsored by A.S. Rogers Income Tax, and the winner of that category was invited to participate in the Sierra Madre Playhouse’s production of “Romeo & Juliet at Zombie High School” that evening. Lisa Spigai emceed the event while the following individuals judged the costume contest: Sierra Madre Mayor John Harabedian, Kiwanis members Susan Henderson, Shirley Anhalt, Chris Leclerc, and high school Key Club member Ryan Tan.
