34 hopeful young women stood on the steps of the Tournament House on Wednesday with a rose in one hand and ecstatic smiles across their faces to celebrate their status as the finalists for the 2017 Tournament of Roses Royal Court.

Nearly 1000 people participated in the interview process and seven of the 34 finalists will be named to the 2017 Royal Court on October 4.

The Tournament’s Queen and Court Committee made its selections based on a number of criteria including poise, speaking ability, academic achievement, and community and school involvement.
