A Bacon Lover’s Dream Come True

Slater’s 50/50 is known for their unusual flavor combinations and bacon-centered menu. The latest additions to their menu pay tribute to an all-American love of bacon, just in time for the start of football season.

 

The Burger. Bacon. Bourbon VIP Dinner pulled out all the stops in a decadent six-course meal complemented by unlimited Woodford Reserve Bourbon. This meal was part of Slater’s monthly dinner for VIPs – other perks of being a VIP include free beer each time you visit and the first bite of their Burgers of the Month.

 

 

This month’s selection focused on the combination of full-bodied flavors. The night started off with Slater’s Jalapeño cream cheese dip which will headline the new Football Sunday Menu. This creamy, not-too-spicy dip comes served with carrot and celery sticks plus a side of crispy pita bread. Another appetizer option is their signature Deconstructed Guacamole – this refreshing shareable plate features sliced avocado, cotija cheese, cherry tomato, pickled red onion, cilantro, roasted corn, creamy lime dressing and spiced house made tortilla chips.

 

 

The meal continued with a slab of Maple Sambal Candied Bacon – this sweet, savory slab of bacon is basted with maple syrup, Sambal olek and ginger syrup. This hearty dish has a crisp skin and is meant for sharing.

 

 

If you’re still hungry, the Flintstone-sized Beef Ribs are a tribute to the slow and low BBQ style of cooking. This new menu item is sure to be a crowd pleaser for hungry football fans. Don’t be afraid to ask to take the bone home to make broth or share with Fido.

 

 

The star of the VIP Dinner was new burger of the month, the Bratwurst Burger. This 100% Bratwurst patty comes with a sweet bourbon green apple sauerkraut, pickles, brown mustard and slices of bacon on a savory pretzel bun. This savory burger pairs well with the new Greek yogurt, dill red potato salad and Mexico City Corn on the Cob smothered with cotija cheese.

 

 

No meal would be complete without dessert and, at Slater’s, even sweets come covered in bacon. The Bacon Brownie Ice Cream Sandwich features two fudgey brownies with a sprinkling of bacon and chocolate ganache with creamy vanilla bean ice cream melting in the middle.

 

 

But half the fun of the VIP dinner is hearing Tony Gurske, Culinary Director, talk about the care and craft that went into each menu item.
