Pasadena Humane Society and SPCA Executive Director Julie Banks said an estimated 2,000 dogs (“that’s a lot of dogs!”) were expected at Brookside Park near the Rose Bowl Sunday as the beautiful warm morning saw a whole lot of joyful barking going on at the organization’s signature fundraiser for food, shelter and veterinary care for the thousands of homeless animals the shelter takes in every year.

As of Friday morning, two days before the event, 892 people had pledged a total of $169,721 for the shelter.

The Society hoped to raise at least $300,000 from the annual Walk. The final count has not yet been officially released.
