Adrienne Ann Mullen Announces Campaign for Pasadena Unified School Board

Adrienne Ann Mullen, Ed.D. announced Thursday that she will be seeking election to the Pasadena Unified School District Board for District 3.

District 3 includes most of Northwest Pasadena east of the Arroyo and west of Lake Ave.

“I am passionate about education. I believe the district is on the right pathway with long-term planning to move the district forward,” Dr. Mullen said in a statement. “I support the reforms of the current administration and want to ensure the district is good stewards of public funds. I intend to run a campaign that is based on educational issues and puts student success first.”

Dr. Mullen has been an educator for over 28 years working in both public and private education at the high school level, and in two-year and four-year educational institutions.

Dr. Mullen has worked the last 14 years in the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD). She began her career at LACCD as the Regional Coordinator for Foster and Kinship Education where she led the education program for foster parents and kinship providers at over 17 community colleges in Los Angeles County. She was a Dean at East Los Angeles College for nine years where she worked with a number of programs including Liberal Arts, Career Technical Education (CTE), Basic Skills Departments including English as a Second Language, and specially-funded grants.

In 2014, Dr. Mullen accepted an appointment at the LACCD District Office to be the Dean of Adult Education to lead its efforts working with four unified school districts to write a successful Adult Education Block Grant that has redefined the delivery of adult education within the Los Angeles Adult Education Regional Consortium that covers over 882 square miles and serves over 270,000 adult learners.

Dr. Mullen and her children have lived in Northwest Pasadena for the past 18 years. She has two children that currently attend PUSD schools, an eighth grader at Marshall Fundamental Secondary School and a sixth grader enrolled in the Mandarin Dual Language Program at Sierra Madre Middle School. She has two children that graduated from Marshall Fundamental Secondary School in recent years.

Dr. Mullen has an Ed.D. from UCLA in Educational Leadership, a M.Ed. from the University of South Carolina in Counseling and Student Development, and BS in Education from Concord University in Athens, WV.
