Police arrested a Las Vegas man on suspicion of driving under the influence and child endangerment after the car he was driving reportedly hit a parked car and ended up on a sidewalk early Sunday morning near Corson Street at North Allen Avenue.

Lt. Marcia Taglioretti said a 911 caller originally reported seeing a possible drunk driver in that area at about 1:55 a.m.

“That vehicle was seen swerving and it crashed into a parked vehicle. The caller advised there was a young child in the vehicle. It appeared as if the driver was attempting to flee,” Taglioretti said.

Responding officers located the car, detained a man and found the child inside the suspect’s car. The infant was unharmed.

The Pasadena Fire Department sent an engine and two rescue ambulances to the scene.

Police said they arrested the driver, Khalid Abbushi, 49.

The child was transported to Pasadena Police Dept. headquarters to be placed under the care of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, according to Taglioretti.

Abbushi is currently being held in the Pasadena City Jail.
