Altadena Grandmother Beaten in Head, Stabbed Allegedly by Grandson

 

A 77-year-old grandmother was found stabbed and beaten in the head by neighbors on their porch in the 1700 block of North Allen Avenue in Altadena about 7:45 p.m. Friday.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene, where they arrested the woman’s 23-year-old grandson, who was covered in blood.

In the KNBC report above, reporter Beverly White details how deputies recovered an axe handle they believe was used in the attack. The sharp instrument used to stab the woman was not found.

Lt. Cruz Solis of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Altadena Station told KNBC that the victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for emergency surgery.

Solis said it was not known what prompted the attack.
