A 23-year-old Altadena man suffered a cut to his palm after being assaulted with a bladed weapon Monday night while walking along the frontage road near the 210 Freeway in Pasadena.
Pasadena Police said the case was an attempted armed robbery/assault with a deadly weapon, although no suspect has yet been identified.
Police Lt. Mark Goodman said the incident was reported at about 11:08 p.m.
“The victim was walking along [the frontage road near the 210 freeway] when he was confronted by the suspect who demanded money while brandishing a knife,” Goodman said. “The suspect lunged toward the victim with the knife in his hand. The victim was able to deflect the knife using his left hand, and the suspect fled on foot in a northwesterly direction.”
Goodman said the victim sustained an approximately three-inch laceration to his palm because of the incident. The victim did not require any medical treatment, Goodman added.
Police described the suspect as male Hispanic, 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall, of stocky build, and wearing a dark color hooded jacket, dark sweat pants and tennis shoes.
Goodman said officers who arrived on scene were not able to locate the suspect.
