police-lightsAveson Charter School was on lockdown for a short period Wednesday, as authorities searched for two men who broke into an Altadena home in the 2000 block of Glenallen Lane, at about 2:30 p.m.

The men were breaking into the home when they were caught by the resident who saw them on surveillance video and called police.

When deputies arrived, they arrested one suspect immediately, according to Sgt. Patrick Gadut of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Altadena station.

The second suspect fled. A few hours later, after a sheriff’s helicopter, police dogs and deputies were dispatched, he was found hiding in the bushes near Pinecrest Drive.

Taurus Hill, 26, of Altadena and Viren Moret, 31, of Altadena were arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Moret had medical issues and was booked downtown. Hill is being held at the sheriff’s Temple station jail in lieu of $50,000 bail for the burglary, with a total bail of $126,000 as it includes bail for two other cases. He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday at Pasadena Superior Court.

Authorities recovered jewelry the pair took from the home.
