Dawn Mooney Digrius of Altadena, has recently been awarded the Ms. Greater California 2018 title by the Ms. America® Pageant.
The Mission of the pageant is to celebrate the accomplishments of women, encourage them to be involved in community service, as well as use the “Crown for a Purpose” to make a difference.
The pageant is open to women 26 years of age and up who are single, divorced or married. The selection process for receiving a title was done by submitting an application, photo and followed up by an interview over the phone. 25 finalists from across the United States will compete in Interview, Sportswear, Evening Gown and On-Stage Interview. “Dawn Mooney Digrius really left a positive impression on our judges and we are thrilled to have her representing California at the 2018 Ms. America Pageant finals this March,” said Susan Jeske, Pageant CEO.
Dawn has been in the Education field for over 13 years and is the Program Director for an Educational non-profit based in Orange County, STEM Advantage. Prior to working for STEM Advantage, Dawn was the Senior Project Manager for the STEM Collaboratives, a multi-campus initiative based at the California State University Office of the Chancellor in Long Beach. Mooney Digrius has a Ph.D. from Drew University, Madison, New Jersey and was Assistant Professor of History of Science at Stevens Institute of Technology before moving back to California in 2014. In her community, she loves to execute service projects such as volunteering to speak at schools about the power of education. Mooney Digrius is a lifetime member of Phi Theta Kappa, was Advocacy Chair for the Junior League of Long Beach, and is a member of the National Association of Professional Women. Her Platform in the pageant is “Educate to Elevate.”
The Ms. America Pageant will be held on March 10, 2018 on the historic ship the Queen Mary that is permanently docked in Long Beach, California. Red Carpet starts at 6:30 pm and the pageant starts at 7:30 pm. Tickets will go on sale in January of 2018 and you can go to the pageant website to purchase www.MsAmericaPageant.com.
