The popular Los Angeles Zoo was the site of Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services’ 9th annual Celebrating Children fundraiser. In addition to raising funds for youth development activities to help the boys who reside at the organization’s El Nido Campus, guests at the October 7 family-friendly event enjoyed visiting with Billy the Elephant, harpy eagles, otters and other aquatic species as they explored the zoo after hours at this private affair.

The centerpiece of Celebrating Children was the presentation of the Hathaway-Sycamores’ Celebrating Children Award. Each year, the event honors an individual or family who exemplifies the values of integrity, leadership and commitment to the well-being of children, adults, families, and communities. For more than 115 years, these values have served as the foundation for the compassion and care that each child receives at Hathaway-Sycamores. The 2017 Celebrating Children honorees were Gayle and Michael Galper.
