Annual Rose Queen’s Luncheon Was Held at the Shakespeare Club of Pasadena

The Shakespeare Club of Pasadena welcomed the 102 nd Rose Queen Camille Kennedy and the Royal Court to the villa for the annual Rose Queen’s Luncheon held in their honor. The event was at sold out to capacity of 120 club members along with many prominent members of the greater Pasadena area.

 

Laura Farber, outgoing President of the Tournament of Roses highlighted the year, including how the theme “Power of Hope” was carried out by the floats, the bands, and the entertainment. She highlighted two floats that celebrated the 100 th anniversary of the passage by the U.S. Congress of the 19 th Amendment to the Constitution granting women the right to vote. She also discussed the 2020-2021 theme: “Dream. Believe. Achieve.” and what is in store for the upcoming year.

 

The Rose Queen and the Royal Court of Rukan Saif, Mia Thorsen, Emilie Risha, Reese Rosental Saporito, Michael Wilkins, and Cole Fox spoke about their experiences during their resign (visiting nursing homes, hospitals, community care facilities, and non-profits) and how the community cares for those who need assistance. They also spoke about their plans for the future of college and career.

 

The Queen and Royal Court were presented with rose necklaces, a traditional gift from the club.

 

The  entertainment was provided by Richard Kenyon, Shakespeare Artist-in-Residence, who discussed what hope is and read selections on the topic of hope from Shakespeare’s plays.

 

Tournament of Roses Court Chaperon Janet Whaley,  “I know the Royal Court members had a wonderful time.  All the details – from floral displays and rose-folded napkins to rose-shaped butter pats and rose necklaces for the Court – came together to provide for a marvelous experience.”
