Arcadia Man Falls to Death Off Holly Street Bridge

Police said a man from Arcadia in his 50’s jumped off the Holly Street Bridge to his death shortly after noon Sunday.

He was pronounced deceased by responding Pasadena Fire Dept. crews shortly thereafter.

The man’s vehicle was found on nearby Linda Vista Avenue. It contained a note that authorities are examining, Pasadena police Lt. Pete Hettema said.

Hettema said that the other bridges to the north and south of the Colorado Street Bridge are used by suicide jumpers, but rarely.

The lower height of the La Loma and Holly Street bridges has led to incomplete attempts by jumpers who instead live to suffer horrific injuries, he said.

The man’s identity has not yet been released.
