Area Legislators Honor Outstanding Women in Business

Eight Pasadena women made the list

State Senator Carol Liu (D-La Cañada Flintridge), Assemblymember Paul Krekorian (D-Burbank) and Assemblymember Anthony Portantino (D-La Cañada Flintridge) today announced the final tally of 25 exceptional businesswomen from their respective districts whom they will honor at the 10th Annual Women in Business Legislative Update and Awards Luncheon set for Oct. 2, 2009, at the Pasadena Hilton.

Each year, the Women in Business Awards recognize businesswomen who have contributed to the economic growth and well-being of Southern California. These women exemplify the broad range of accomplishments that women have achieved in our communities.

Among those to receive awards are the following Pasadenans:

OUTSTANDING SMALL BUSINESSWOMAN:
Bobbie Moon, Pasadena

OUTSTANDING CORPORATE BUSINESSWOMAN:
Katie Brethour, Pasadena
Rita Lynch Speck, Pasadena

OUTSTANDING NON-PROFIT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR:
Susan Kujawa, Pasadena
Celestine Walker-McFearn, Pasadena

OUTSTANDING JUNIOR BUSINESSWOMAN:
Victoria Williams, Pasadena

EMPOWERMENT AWARD:
Christine G. Miklusak, La Canada-Flintridge

MOST INSPIRATIONAL AWARD:
Victoria Gurfein, Pasadena

WOMEN IN SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY:
Patricia Duff Tucker, Pasadena-Monrovia
