Arrest of Theft Suspect

South Pasadena- On Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at approximately 2:00 p.m., a theft of alcohol occurred from Vons Supermarket in South Pasadena. The Suspect left the location with the stolen merchandise and was contacted by officers in the 1000 block of Fair Oaks Avenue. The suspect fled from officers eastbound from Fair Oaks Avenue and into the 1000 block of Brent Avenue. The Suspect was last seen running through resident’s yards eastbound towards Park Avenue. Officer’s lost sight of the suspect in the 1000 block of Park Avenue, but were advised by passerby’s that he was seen running eastbound through Oxley Alley. Officers and Detectives checked the area with the help of a helicopter but were unsuccessful in locating the suspect.

Officers continued to check the area when they were advised by a resident from the 1700 block of Virginia Place that a subject matching the description of the suspect was seen in her rear yard. Officers checked the rear yard of the residence and located the suspect who was found hiding in a tool shed. The suspect later identified as 20-year-old Lafayatte Jackson, was taken into custody without incident. The items taken from Vons were located and returned to the supermarket.
