Award-winning World Music Vocalist Kiran Ahluwalia Brings Her Unique Sound to Caltech's Beckman Auditorium

Caltech Live! is pleased to present Kiran Ahluwalia in concert at Beckman Auditorium on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 8:00 p.m.

Kiran’s music embodies the essence of Indian music while also embracing blues, rock, R & B, and jazz. With her socially conscious lyrics and a five-piece band directed by Rez Abbasi, Ahluwalia creates songs that invite her audiences to explore the human condition and lose themselves in a trance of groove and melody.

Over the course of her career, Kiran has collaborated with legendary Malian group Tinariwen, Celtic fiddler Natalie MacMaster, and fado masters from Portugal. Her seventh and most recent album 7 Billion features six songs including title track “Saat” (Seven), rock-influenced “Khafa,” and “We Sinful Women,” which highlights gripping and emotional Urdu poetry.

Kiran’s last six albums have garnered her two JUNO (Canadian Grammy) Awards, two Canadian Folk Awards, a Songlines Music Award (U.K.), and peak rankings on the European World Music Charts.
