The Pasadena Arts Council presented the 2017 AxS Gold Crown Awards event on Tuesday, October 10, 2017. Since 1965, Pasadena Arts Council’s Gold Crown Award has honored individuals and organizations for exceptional achievement in the visual, performing, and literary arts. The award recognizes the great importance of these contributions to the cultural fabric of Pasadena, promoting a more effective, inclusive and thriving arts community. Additionally, the newer AxS Award fetes those people and institutions making significant contributions to the intersection of art and science.

This year’s Gold Crown Award winners were philanthropists Carolyn and Craig Watson, and Pasadena Conservatory of Music Executive Director Stephen McCurry. The AxS Award went to David Wilson and the Museum of Jurassic Technology.

The event was held at the ArtCenter College of Design’s South Campus’ Rooftop Garden.
