Back-and-Forth Gun Battle Reportedly Flares in Residential Neighborhood on Saturday Morning

A back-and-forth gun battle apparently occurred early Saturday morning on a residential street near the Rose Bowl where a similar shooting in May, 2015 left a man critically wounded.

Residents in the area of Stanton Street between Kenneth Way and Casitas Avenue reportedly heard four shots ring out about 1:55 a.m.

“Then another back and forth exchange — another 10 shots,” said one neighbor.

It is unknown if there were any victims, however a witness reported seeing a person being helped into a car, thus indicating at least one may have been injured.

“Everyone left in multiple cars quickly before police arrived,” the witness said.

Police have been unavailable for comment this morning.

The corner of Stanton Street and Casitas Avenue has been the scene of trouble before.

On May 15, 2015 at about 11:31 a.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to the area of Casitas and Stanton Street regarding shots fired. When officers arrived, they observed a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed, Chief Sanchez reported in a newsletter that year.

The vehicle was stopped and officers located a subject, a Pasadena man, in the car suffering from gunshot injuries. He was transported to a local hospital where he was immediately taken to surgery. He survived.

Pasadena Now will provide more details on Saturday morning’s reported shooting as soon as it becomes available to us.
