Bail Reduced for Former Pasadena City Employee Who Allegedly Stole Over $6 Million

Bail was reduced from $1.75 million to $650,000 Friday for former Pasadena city employee Danny Ray Wooten, 51, of Montclair who with two others has been charged in an alleged embezzlement scheme that stretched over a decade and which may have siphoned off as much as $6.4 million from city coffers.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Sergio C. Tapia II reduced the bail and lifted a hold that had kept Wooten jailed, according to the Pasadena Star News.

Wooten was arrested December 30 along with along with Tyrone Collins, 59, and Melody Jenkins, 46.  If found guilty, Wooten may face up to 28 years in state prison, while Collins and Jenkins may face up to 18 and 4 years, respectively.

The three were charged in a 60-count felony complaint that included grand theft, embezzlement, and conflict of interest.

Wooten’s attorney Christopher Darden said expected to process to play out quickly and that his client should be freed from jail by Sunday, according to MyNewsLA.com .
