Beer, Community, And Environmentalism Are On Tap At Saturday’s San Gabriel Mountains Beer Series

The Nature for All Stewards Group is hosting its first San Gabriel Mountains Beer Series, a community event and beer tasting in Pasadena’s Central Park, on Saturday, June 30th from 3-7pm.

Secretary for Nature for All Stewards Michael Gasbarro said that while the event has been “heavily marketed as a beer series,” that’s not the only objective. “We want to get people who might not know about conservation, the outdoors and community work going on (in the area) to talk with local non-profits.”

The event, he said, is an innovative way for groups to share information about the work they’re doing with people who typically aren’t involved in environmental circles.

Gasbarro also said there are about thirty non-profit organizations involved in Saturday’s event including the Pasadena Casting Club and Pasadena Complete Streets. Many of those will have activities for attendees to participate in as they learn about the non-profits in question, how they can get involved and what each strives to accomplish regarding the local environment.

Breweries slated to be serving up the suds are: Eagle Rock Brewery, Frogtown Brewery, Mt. Lowe Brewing Co., Pacific Plate Brewing Co., and Alosta Brewing.

Kids are welcome too. “Only adults can enter the beer festival, but to engage with all of the environmental groups, it’s totally kid-friendly. We’re planning an avatar farm and planting succulents for kids, along with other activities,” he said.

Music from DJ Glenn Red and food trucks will round out the day’s festivities.

Nature for All Stewards is a coalition of 12 organizations working to build a diverse base of support for ensuring that everyone in the Los Angeles area — no matter where they live — has equitable access to the full range of benefits that nature can provide. The organization is best known as the leading community group that built support for the designation of the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument in 2014.

Regular Admission is $25, which includes 5 (8-oz.) samples. VIP tickets are $40 each, which includes 5 (8-oz.) samples, N4A T-Shirt, and a16 oz stainless steel pint glass.
