Bicycles Enable a Good Turn at Elizabeth House in Pasadena

Bicycles and community go together. So says one local realtor, which presented dozens of gift bikes to the children of local nonprofit Elizabeth House last month.

Pasadena real estate agent Eva Lin of the Lin Realty Group and her team donated 50 bicycles to the kids on a recent Saturday. The group steps up to give back to the community in a big way at least twice a year.

“Eva and her team made a lot of special kids very happy today,” said Elizabeth House Founding Director, Debora Unruh. “What a wonderful way for these children to start off the summer.”

Lin and her team of impromptu bike builders partnered with The Elizabeth House, a non-profit organization in Pasadena that provides shelter and treatment for pregnant women suffering from homelessness and abuse. The bikes were presented to children ages 4 through 7, whose mothers had been treated at The Elizabeth House.

“I love that my team is able to positively impact both our clients and our local community,” Lin said. “Becoming a new mom has been such a transformative experience. It’s really inspired me to do something positive for underprivileged Pasadena children who don’t have all the comforts that I hope to provide for my own children.

“There’s something so simple and pure about a young child enjoying the freedom and delight that comes with riding their very own bicycle,” Lin said. “I think most of us take it for granted that we had a bike growing up, but for these kids, it’s a huge deal.”

“All things considered, building and gifting these bicycles in early summer and right before the holidays is a small gesture, but I know we’re helping spark joy for these children,” Lin said. “I can’t wait until we’re able to do this for hundreds and hundreds of children per year all throughout the San Gabriel Valley.”

The Lin Realty Group plans to make another bicycle donation over the winter holidays.
