Blinn House Foundation Raises Money Saturday to Preserve Historic Landmark

The Blinn House Foundation will be hosting its annual fundraiser — Jazz Night 2016 — Saturday night in order to raise money needed to stabilize its 110-year-old foundation.

The event will go from 6-10 p.m. and feature live music by students from the Idyllwild Arts Academy, a Cajun buffet dinner, and raffle prizes and cocktails, according to a statement released to the press.

The historic Blinn House, which is home of the Women’s City Club of Pasadena, was built in 1906 and was designed in the American Midwestern Prairie School style by famed Chicago architect George Washington Maher, according to a press release. Currently, it is registered to two different landmark databases and is designated as Pasadena Cultural Landmark #16.

The foundation — a nonprofit Pasadena-based organization dedicating to preserving the historic landmark — so far has raised $70,000 toward the stabilization project that will install underpinnings at a depth of 8 inches and pour new foundation.

The overall restoration project is slated to cost $250,000.

The Blinn House contributes to the local community by serving as a meeting place for over 25 nonproft organizations who call the clubhouse “home,” according to the press release.

The Blinn House is located at 160 North Oakland Avenue and tickets will be $75 per person, a portion of which will be tax deductible.
