There’s no real secret as to why Pasadena has won 15 consecutive games.

The Bulldogs are stacked with talent, they have size, they’re well coached and they don’t care who gets the credit as long as they stay victorious.

Pasadena used 58 combined points from seniors Bryce Hamilton and Darius Brown II, and Damien never really had a chance.

The Bulldogs cruised past the Spartans, 88-75, Wednesday night in La Verne, in a CIF-SS Division 1 quarterfinal match up.

But make no mistake about it, the contest was never in doubt in the second half, as PHS held between a 15-24 point lead throughout.

Bryce Hamilton led everyone with 35 points and also grabbed 9 rebounds.

Hamilton made 14-of-23 from the field and had 24 of his game-high 35 in the second half.

The area’s premier player (Hamilton) also added 4 assists and 4 steals.

PHS took a 46-33 lead into the break, and with much of that due to DBII’s 19 first-half points, including a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Brown finished with 23 points on 8-of-10 shooting, and he had a game-best 9 assists.

DBII had 3 rebounds, 3 steals and turned the ball over just once.

Cameron Shelton was as good as advertised for Damien.

The Spartans senior guard had a team-best 34 points, including 21 in the second half.

Malik Thomas finished with 18 points for Damien and Elijah McCullough had 13.

Darius Mason added 14 points but it was his game-high 11 rebounds and 7 blocked shots that were especially huge for the Bulldogs.

Tavian Percy had a big game with 12 points and 9 rebounds and he forced Damien players to take contested shots all night.

Omari Moore came off the bench and had 4 points and 7 rebounds to create a spark for the Bulldogs.

PHS made 32-of-57 shots from the field (56%), had 41 rebounds and 24 assists.

The Bulldogs converted on 17-of-21 free-throw attempts and 7 of 16 from beyond the 3-point arc.

Pasadena will host Rancho Verde on Friday at Maranatha High School.

Rancho Verde defeated Eleanor Roosevelt, 53-43, in their quarterfinal game Tuesday night.
