Boys & Girls Basketball State Playoff Pairings

Pasadena area basketball teams went 0-2 this weekend in the CIF-SS finals.

Flintridge Prep fell to second-seeded Beverly Hills, 50-46, in the CIF-SS Division 3A championship game at Colony High School Saturday evening.

And Pasadena was on the wrong end of a 72-56 CIF-SS Division 1 game against Chino Hills at APU.

The Muir boys and Poly girls both earned CIF-SS semifinal round appearances and that qualified the Mustangs and Panthers to join the Bulldogs and Rebels in the CIF-State Playoffs.

All four schools play this Wednesday and three have first round home games.

Pasadena (23-7) will host Narbonne (23-8) at 7.

The Gauchos went 2-2 in Open Division play.

Narbonne defeated Birmingham and Taft, but lost match ups with Granada Hills Charter and El Camino Real.

PHS got a first-round boy in the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs, and then defeated Loyola, Damien and Rancho Verde before Saturday night’s title tilt with Chino Hills.

Last season, after a finals loss to Harvard-Westlake, PHS regrouped and won three consecutive state games.

Muir (23-8) has been off since their CIF-SS Division 2A, 65-59 loss to San Marcos of Santa Barbara back on February 23.

The senior-heavy Mustangs, though, are hungry to get back on the court Wednesday and they will host San Marcos (23-5).

This San Marcos team, though, is from the San Diego area..

The Knights had a pair of postseason losses to Mater Dei Catholic and St. Augustine.

Muir seniors Hunter Woods, Haleem Jenkins, Tiyon Martin, Simaine Stewart and Tasson Aubry are ready for the final run of their prep careers.

Flintridge Prep (24-7) will host Mater Dei Catholic of San Diego on Wednesday at 7.

The Rebels, as mentioned, made a title-game appearance Saturday night, dropping a 4-point contest to Beverly Hills in the CIF-SS Division 3A finals.

Mater Dei Catholic (19-13) defeated West Hills, Mira Mesa and Eastlake before falling to Bonita Vista.

Kaitlyn Chen, Sofia Gonzalez, Andie Kim, Madison Manning and the entire Rebels rosters looks to bounce back from their first loss since late December.

Poly (18-5) finished in a second-place tie with Mayfield in the Prep League.

The Panthers earned CIF-SS Division 4A victories over Moreno Valley, Notre Dame and Maranatha before their semifinal defeat at Cathedral.

Poly will travel to Immanuel (23-9) on Wednesday at 7.

The Eagles won a CIF Central Division championship with consecutive wins over Chavez, Exeter, Fresno and Golden Valley.

Poly’s Sarah Johnson, Kylie Kishi, Alexis Pappachan and the whole crew looks to extend their remarkable 2017-18 season.
